Ponedjeljak, 30. ožujka 2009. Udruga za zaštitu prava i interesa poreznih obveznika Taxpayers ' Alliance tvrdi kako su stvarni troškovi članstva u Europskoj uniji za zemlju članicu mnogo puta viši od brojki koje navodi Europska komisija.

Komisija ističe da su podaci koje uzima za izračun troškova članstva u EU potpuno različiti od onih koje koristi Taxpayers ' Alliance i ne uključuju, primjerice, troškove usklađivanja s europskim zakonodavstvom, a uzeti su iz službenih financijskih izvješća EK-a.

Taxpayers ' Alliance bazira svoje brojke na onom što smatra stvarnim i skrivenim troškovima članstva u EU.
